Why Basildon homeowners choose a garden room
A garden room gives you valuable extra space without the upheaval of an extension, and the reasons below are the ones we hear most often from clients in Basildon and Wickford, as well as from those choosing our garden rooms in Essex further afield.

Designed and built by one team
Your room is designed and built by our own in-house team, and your project manager is there from the first survey to the final handover, so one person always knows exactly how your build is progressing.

Space to train at home
With insulation and heating built in, a garden gym is somewhere you can train comfortably all year. Our Basildon clients added air conditioning to keep the room cool during harder sessions, and specialist lighting or a media wall can be added too.

Salons and treatment rooms
A garden room can become a salon, treatment room or creative studio with its own entrance, so clients never need to walk through your home. Our Wickford beauty room shows how even a modest footprint can feel bright, calm and professional.
Garden offices in Basildon
Whether you are employed and working from home or running your own business, a garden office in Basildon offers a proper workspace with some welcome distance from family life.
We start with how you will use the room, then plan the desk position, storage and glazing to suit. If clients will visit, we can give the office its own entrance path so they never need to come through your home, just as we did for our Wickford beauty room.
Each garden office in Basildon is fully insulated and heated, so it stays a comfortable place to work in every season, and we plan the hard-wired internet, sockets and lighting around your desk. You can find more layouts on our garden office page.
See a finished garden room before you decide
Our indoor showroom is around 13 miles from Basildon town centre, at Unit C, 279 Beehive Lane, Great Baddow, Chelmsford CM2 8LU, and most visitors arrive in about 20 minutes via the A130.
Once inside, you can see the build quality for yourself, test the lighting and look at cladding, doors and flooring side by side. If you bring a photo or a few measurements of your garden, our team can show you what could fit.

What our customers say
Katie at the Rooms to Grow showroom was very knowledgeable and helpful. From there, she provided a design and quote setting out our options. We then perfected this and within a month, Rooms to Grow were on site building!

Frequently asked questions

Permitted development covers most garden rooms built in Basildon, which means a planning application is not normally required. The main limits are a height of 2.5 metres if the room sits within 2 metres of a boundary, and the room covering no more than half of your garden. If yours is an exception, we will spot it while checking your address during design, and we can handle the application as an optional extra.
Basildon Council has four conservation areas: Billericay High Street, Great Burstead, Little Burstead and Noak Bridge. Inside them, outbuildings face stricter rules and an application is more often required. Roughly 63% of the borough is Green Belt, though a room placed in your existing garden is usually still allowed. Before any work begins, we confirm exactly where your home stands.
You can, and our Wickford beauty room was built for exactly that. If clients will visit regularly, Basildon Council might have to agree a change of use, so let us know at the start and we will plan the room, entrance and access with that in mind.
Yes, every project starts with a site survey, so levels, access and foundations are planned before anything is built. In Wickford, a two-tier step was built in to suit the change in level, and it has become one of the best features of the room.
A garden room makes a lovely occasional guest room or snug. If someone will sleep in it regularly, building regulations and sometimes planning permission apply, so tell us early and we will design it to meet them. Toilets, shower rooms and kitchenettes are all available as optional extras.
We build across the whole borough, including Basildon town centre, Laindon, Langdon Hills, Pitsea, Vange, Kingswood, Noak Bridge, Wickford and Billericay, plus villages such as Ramsden Bellhouse, Crays Hill and Bowers Gifford. We also build in nearby Billericay, Rayleigh, Brentwood and Southend-on-Sea.
